Bernie Sanders Mitten Sticker - The Valentine's Edition

Ok so everyone had a lot of fun with Bernie Sanders and his adorable cold weather fashion. I of course wanted to be in on this trend too and made a design that had just the Berning Man himself.

And unsurprisingly, it is outselling all of my other designs. It has been a humbling reminder that I need to get better at either making art that a lot of people want, or connecting my art to the people that want it.

That was on my list of things to do this year anyway, for the record.

But then, as my easily sidetracked self usually does, I decided to upload a second Bernie design to my RedBubble shop instead of furthering my knowledge on promotions and such (hah!). As such, click on the picture above to be taken to the Valentine's edition of Bernie with the mittens!

I'm Smitten! It's the ever adorable Bernie with fun text that still celebrates the word mitten. Smitten has to be my favorite word that I feel like is WILDLY underutilized.

This design was made in Vectornator, a free app that I use on my iPad. Vectornator has been my primary design program, although I did recently invest in Affinity for my laptop. But when I want to do designs like this or ones like many of my pun-based designs, Vectornator is my go-to. The interface is really friendly and it was so easy for me to use. I may do some tutorial posts on it at some point during this year because for it being a great program, I don't see as many people using it yet (although I understand the draw of Procreate certainly depending on your art style).

I can't tell you how much I loved this Bernie moment. The memes have been phenomenal and it was the first time in a long time that it felt like the internet was relatively united in something positive and lighthearted.

Also, as I was browsing the internet and reading Bernie stories...is he really six feet tall?! Somehow I just did not think he was that tall, but Wikipedia told me so, for whatever that is worth.

I know that politics will continue to be divisive well in to 2021 and beyond, but it was great to just have a moment of relief from it. I honestly hope there are more like these. Maybe we all just need to wear mittens more often!
