This is one of those designs that started out as about six different ideas before it landed here. At any given time, I have a running list on my phone that easily gets upward of 30 designs, puns, or styles that I would like to make. Sometimes, they just don't translate as easy as I want them to, or by the time they get to an uploaded state they are something entirely different.
So this is a composition design of a few things mixed together. I like how adding layers on to each other and changing the blend mode can create completely different prints just based on your settings. It typically gives me the one that I am going for now, and often another that may land on a different site. When I first created this one and put it on Kin Custom, I had started with shirts and jackets that had "Rise Above It" on the sleeves. As I went through other items in the design process, I finally decided I just wanted to have the print without text. Which resulted in another fifteen minutes of going back through designs and taking it back off.
You can click on the pictures and get taken directly to the products. I love the pastel high tops. I want the pastel high tops. I will probably put them on my Christmas list. I don't know if other people do this, but I specifically made shops that would have clothes that I want on them, but I hate to only order my own stuff because I want to support other artists and shop owners as well. But quirky shoes are apparently my kryptonite! I also have some over on my Threadless shop and I want all of those too...
While this did not take the road that I thought it would, I think this is a great design. Do I wish I had done this one earlier in the spring? Sure. But, things tend to happen whenever they are meant to. This spring, I had two shops started I believe and was just getting used to the nuances of all of them. Now, I have it dialed in...somewhat better, and am going back and fixing all of the rookie mistakes that I made a few at a time! (hah...there are so many of them though for real).
It's funny, because sometimes I look at images like this and I just think to myself, how in the world did I get here...I threw a few designs up in March on TeePublic because my life was so chaotic both internally and externally with all of the COVID things happening and personal life drama and I just needed an OUTLET. And then as I kept using it as an outlet it kept...feeling great, and being fun, and making me happy. So I guess I throw this out here just to say, do the random thing sometimes. You may not feel like an artists or a maker or a creator, but you might just find something that you like.
So, keep your head in the clouds and your heart on your sleeve the rest of this year and let's make it the best holiday season with the most love yet.
