My Jokes Are very Punderstandable

Picture it, Indiana in the year 2020. A woman is sitting in her house in the peak of pandemic lockdown. Things in life are not going quite as planned. You might even say they weren't that great...but the jokes? The jokes were lit. We are gathered here today to taco 'bout it.

The story of Punderstandable, and my life in general, are laced throughout my designs. Although this venture is new, it very much represents something that has always been a cornerstone of my personality- I tend to crack jokes in my head during very serious situations. If I can land a good joke internally, those bright moments in a dark time do wonders (and so does my therapist: mental health is the most important conversation we can have, please do what you need when you need to keep yours in a good place). I was probably my version of depressed earlier this year, I say my version because I feel like it probably feels different to every person that experiences it. I was really starting to feel like everything in my life was falling down around me, and at the same time I just needed a creative outlet so badly.

I stumbled across the app Vectornator, and the rest of the tale unwinds throughout my shops.

The joking though has also gotten me in trouble more than once when the joke was so good that I laughed at a very inappropriate time (seven year old me, at a funeral...I am still embarrassed..)

Fast forward to now, and I have found some real joy creating art and finding so many artists on twitter and Instagram that are in various stages of their own small business. There is such a great energy right now around creating things, and I am so impressed daily by people that I find that are making the most unique things. Expect to see some of them featured as well along the way.

Let's get started!
